Overview

Caramel is a meme coin creation platform built on the LaChain network, inspired by the pump.fun model and designed to remove friction from token launches. The project was created with a clear objective: make on-chain creation accessible to anyone, regardless of prior blockchain experience.

Developed during BlockchainRio 2024, Caramel combined product thinking, UX strategy, branding, and interface design into a lightweight launch experience focused on clarity, speed, and accessibility.

Problem

Launching tokens on-chain still feels overly technical for most users. Existing flows often require too many decisions, unfamiliar wallet interactions, and a level of blockchain knowledge that creates unnecessary friction.

For people interested in experimenting, building communities, or launching cultural internet-native assets, the process can feel intimidating instead of exciting.

Design a platform that simplifies meme coin creation without making the product feel superficial or untrustworthy.

The goal was to:

  • Reduce the complexity of token creation
  • Make the experience intuitive for non-technical users
  • Create a fast and lightweight flow from idea to launch
  • Balance ease of use with transparency around on-chain actions

Caramel was designed as a frictionless token creation experience, where users can create, launch, and interact with meme coins in just a few clicks.

The product approach focused on:

  • Simple step-by-step flows to reduce cognitive load
  • Clear interface patterns to guide first-time users
  • Fast launch interactions inspired by consumer-grade UX
  • Transparent smart contract interactions that abstract complexity without hiding how the system works

Instead of overwhelming users with technical steps, Caramel turns token creation into a more approachable and understandable process, while still preserving the feeling of being truly on-chain.

Research

The research process combined market analysis, competitive references, and quick user validation during the hackathon cycle.

The main insight was clear: users were interested in launching meme coins, but existing tools often felt too complex, confusing, or inaccessible for beginners. This reinforced the need for a product experience centered on clarity, trust, and immediate usability.

The design direction prioritized a lightweight and intuitive interface, influenced by products that reduce friction through strong visual hierarchy and minimal decision-making.

Key principles included:

  • Intuitive onboarding for first-time users
  • Reduced form complexity
  • Guided interaction patterns
  • Quick comprehension of each step in the launch flow

The interface was built to feel immediate and simple, while still aligned with the speed and energy of crypto-native products.

Caramel’s branding explored a more playful and internet-native visual language, aligned with meme culture but structured enough to support product trust.

The identity helped position the platform as:

  • Approachable rather than intimidating
  • Lightweight rather than overly technical
  • Community-driven rather than purely transactional

This balance was important to make the experience feel accessible without losing credibility.

Results

Caramel was developed and presented during BlockchainRio 2024, where it stood out as an award-winning concept.

More importantly, the project demonstrated how strong UX can make blockchain creation flows feel significantly more accessible. It validated the idea that meme coin creation does not need to be confusing or overly technical to remain on-chain and trustworthy.

Lessons Learned

Caramel reinforced an important product principle: simplifying blockchain UX is not about removing depth, but about removing unnecessary friction.

It also showed how product design can translate complex infrastructure into experiences that feel fast, clear, and culturally relevant.

The next evolution of Caramel could include:

  • Richer launch customization
  • Community features around token creation
  • Improved onboarding for first-time wallet users
  • Stronger post-launch token management flows
